What we do

We do great things for everyone. It’s as simple as that. 

From pioneering treatments for babies in the womb to the complex care needed later in life, the work of Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity touches people at every stage of life. 

Chances are, you or someone you know, has have been cared for in one of your 13 hospitals, including Southmead Hospital, St Michael’s Hospital, Bristol Heart Institute, Bristol Royal Infirmary, and Weston General Hospital. 

Since 1974, we’ve stood proudly alongside the NHS. As the official charity partner to Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest acute NHS Trusts in the country, we see the positive impact a full-hearted community can make for millions of people. 

In 2025, we launched a new strategy to make an even greater impact across Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire. Working closely with our local NHS, we see where the need is greatest and we respond.  

Each year, we invest millions into four key areas that deliver meaningful, lasting change to support older patients, create healing environments, fund life-changing treatments, equipment and innovation, and ensure everyone receives the best possible care for their needs.
